At season end, 9th in Ereklasse hosts 2nd in the Eerste Klasse Champions pool; 10th hosts that pool’s winner. Each Ereklasse team must win to stay up: losing means relegation to Eerste Klasse, the second tier. 11th and 12th are relegated automatically, with no playoff. 2026/27 only: the men’s Ereklasse shrinks from 12 to 10 teams for 2027/28.
