How rugby is organised in Laos

Competition structureAsia region · Guide updated 12 Aug 2026
StructureCompetitionsClubsSources

Lao Rugby Federation's 2026 calendar lists domestic fifteens, sevens, provincial youth and T1 activity, plus a tens event. This page follows that calendar. It is not a completed season, a results service, a promotion ladder or a complete club list.

Governing authorityLao Rugby Federation
Dutch rugby standings

The country structure

Permanent leagues, seasonal phases and parallel competitions stay separate so a cup or playoff is not mistaken for a league tier.

Dated domestic fifteens calendar

The 2026 calendar names Lao Leagues 15s and lists May match days followed by a final. It does not give a gender division, teams, completed results, rules or a lasting competition name.

  • Calendar dates are not results

The listed match days and final are planned dates. This page does not assume the competition finished, and it does not publish a champion, table or score.

Senior sevens remains separate

Lao League 7s is a separate four-date 2026 calendar entry. It is not a phase of the fifteens competition and has no entrant list, standings method or results archive.

  • No cross-format identity inference

A name in sevens does not automatically mean the same club or team in fifteens, youth, provincial or tens rugby.

Provincial youth and T1 programmes

The calendar separately lists Provincial Champa Ban competitions and T1 Rugby Lao League 7s across named locations. These are youth and development events, not lower senior tiers or lists of teams.

  • Location is not governing ownership

Named provinces and cities are event locations only. They do not create regional branches, owners or automatic qualification routes.

Tens and representative rugby are distinct

Vientiane 10s is a dated two-day event. The calendar also names an international men's XV Unions Cup, which is representative rugby rather than a Lao domestic tier.

  • Event entrants are not club identities

Domestic, invited, provincial, youth and representative team names are not matched to clubs, so no team list is published here.
