How rugby is organised in Sweden

Svenska Rugbyförbundet publishes national senior men’s and women’s XV competition families, alongside separate sevens and youth competition activity. Profixio is the official operational surface for the published 2026 XV schedule, results and tables.

Governing authoritySvenska RugbyförbundetOperational providerProfixio

Hierarchy

The country structure

Permanent leagues, seasonal phases and parallel competitions stay separate so a cup or playoff is not mistaken for a league tier.

Senior men

The 2026 men’s XV programme is published as Allsvenskan North and South groups and Division 1 North and South groups, with later championship and placement phases under separate series provisions.

  • National XV family

North and South are geographic groups within the published national men’s XV programme, rather than separately governed competition branches.

  • Season phases

The current provisions distinguish regular-season groups from championship, placement and qualification phases. This guide does not reproduce current tables, results, rankings or movement outcomes.

Senior women

The 2026 women’s XV programme is published as Allsvenskan North and South groups, with a separate Allsvenskan women’s series provision.

  • Published XV groups

The two geographic Allsvenskan groups are presented as one season’s women’s XV programme. No lower women’s XV tier or cross-season movement model is asserted here.

Sevens

SRF’s 2026 Rugby 7s programme has separate men’s and women’s qualification activity followed by Swedish Championship finals.

  • Separate event family

The regional qualification events and championship finals are tournament stages, not lower divisions in either senior XV programme.

Youth

SRF publishes national P16 and P18 XV series work and a separate youth championship programme across multiple age groups.

  • Age-grade competitions

P16 and P18 national XV series and the youth championship are age-grade activities. They are not senior league tiers or evidence of canonical senior club identities.

Recent competition history

SRF annual reports and direct announcements support bounded 2023–2025 XV and sevens outcomes. They do not establish an all-time champions register or identity-safe club-honours corpus.

  • Season-team outcomes only

Exact champion, ranking-only and combined-team displays remain bound to their competition and season. Years outside the reviewed evidence are unknown, and no title is allocated to a constituent club.
