How rugby is organised in Poland

PZR publishes the verified national senior men’s XV, youth XV, sevens, cup, veterans, children’s and school-rugby families. Its statute also recognizes regional OZR owners, but the checked sources do not close a current country-wide regional catalogue or establish a domestic senior women’s XV league.

Governing authorityPolski Związek Rugby (PZR)Governing authorityOkręgowe Związki Rugby (OZR)

Hierarchy

The country structure

Permanent leagues, seasonal phases and parallel competitions stay separate so a cup or playoff is not mistaken for a league tier.

Senior men’s XV

PZR publishes Ekstraliga Rugby XV, I Liga Rugby XV and II Liga Rugby XV as national men’s competition families.

  • National XV families

The published labels establish the three national families. This hub does not assert automatic movement rules or a territorial division beneath II Liga.

  • Ekstraliga editions

The Ekstraliga catalogue links separate season editions. Season 39 is the 2026/27 edition and displayed a ten-team zero table before the first scheduled result; a season URL is an edition locator, not a permanent team or match identifier.

Senior women

The checked PZR competition index includes women’s sevens but does not establish a domestic senior women’s XV league.

  • Women’s XV status

No women’s XV ladder is inferred from the national index. Women’s sevens remains a separate published family.

Youth and schools

PZR publishes junior and cadet XV, children-and-youth tournaments, and school rugby as distinct participation and competition families.

  • Age-group families

Junior, cadet, children’s and school-rugby entries are separate from the senior men’s XV ladder.

Sevens

PZR’s index separately lists men’s and women’s championships, league and cup activity, and junior and cadet sevens competitions.

  • Separate event families

Sevens is shown as a parallel competition set rather than a tier within the XV ladder.

Cups and veterans

The national index lists a Polish XV Cup family and veterans rugby alongside the league and youth entries.

  • Parallel formats

Cup and veterans labels are kept separate from the permanent senior men’s league families; a catalogue listing is not presented as a current table or season result.

Season-team boundaries

PZR’s public competition labels can include sponsor displays, numbered reserve sides and composite entries. They do not establish a durable public club-and-team identity system.

  • Identity review required

Do not turn a sponsor-bearing display, directory record or season-team label into a Frostlete club identity. Numbered sides and composite entries remain separate until PZR supplies a suitable identity and correction contract.
