How rugby is organised in Norway

Norges Rugbyforbund publishes a senior men’s XV family and separate men’s and women’s sevens series. Its public tournament page, calendar and Profixio workflow do not establish one complete current domestic hierarchy, so this hub publishes structure and official links only.

Governing authorityNorges RugbyforbundOperational providerProfixio

Hierarchy

The country structure

Permanent leagues, seasonal phases and parallel competitions stay separate so a cup or playoff is not mistaken for a league tier.

Senior men’s XV

NRF’s official tournament page has a men’s 15s family. The 2026 section exposes ranking and matches headings without rows, while the federation calendar lists 2026 men’s XV fixtures.

  • Current discovery is incomplete

The public mismatch does not establish inactivity, a current table, a complete participant list or a full division hierarchy. Frostlete does not fill those gaps from calendar labels or provider records.

  • Division 2 is a separate discovery item

The 2026 calendar names a men’s Division 2 event, but the checked public sources do not establish complete membership, results or promotion and relegation relationships with the senior men’s XV family.

Senior women’s XV

No current domestic senior women’s XV competition hierarchy was verified in the checked federation tournament and calendar surfaces.

  • No ladder inferred

Women’s national-team and development references are not treated as evidence of a domestic women’s XV league, its teams or its movement rules.

National sevens

NRF describes separate men’s and women’s 2026 sevens series as Norges Cup and publishes five round destinations for each. The men’s ranking and visible R1/R2 fixture counts do not reconcile, so no values or participant assertions are projected.

  • Round-based parallel series

Each round can contain pools, placement matches, semifinals and a final. The series are parallel to XV and do not prove an XV club order, a permanent team identity or a league-tier relationship.

  • Norgescup reconciliation remains open

NRF editorial evidence calls both 2026 sevens series Norges Cup, but calendar and round records expose no stable event-to-round crosswalk. The men’s table/fixture arithmetic conflict remains unresolved and no one-to-one source identity or ranking is claimed here.

Junior and other activity

The federation calendar lists junior activity, but the checked public sources do not establish a complete national youth competition family.

  • Event evidence is not a national ladder

Junior events, T1, touch, wheelchair rugby, snow rugby and other federation activity are not imported into the Rugby Union XV or sevens structures described here.

Identity and access boundaries

Federation display rows, Profixio registrations and club records are different identity layers, and Profixio’s workflow operates with licence and member-record information.

  • No canonical club mapping

This hub publishes no club list, season-team map, reserve relationship, provider ID, table or match record. Authenticated system access and public visibility do not establish canonical identity or a supported public feed.
