How rugby is organised in Fiji
Competition structureOceania region · Guide updated 12 Aug 2026
Fiji Rugby Union publishes provincial and school competitions rather than a national club ladder. The Skipper Cup is the leading provincial men's XV competition. Its teams are provincial union sides, not clubs.
Permanent leagues, seasonal phases and parallel competitions stay separate so a cup or playoff is not mistaken for a league tier.
Provincial rugby
The Skipper Cup and Vanua Championship are separate provincial competitions. Qualification between them is set each season. This page shows no fixed promotion ladder or clubs.
Skipper Cup
The 2025 season finished with a championship final. The official pages mention both a top-four playoff and a quarter-final, so this page does not yet show the full playoff format.
Vanua Championship
Vanua is a separate provincial competition. Any promotion route between the two is set season by season, and this page does not show one.
Schools and development rugby
Schools, youth and development competitions are separate from senior provincial rugby. This page does not list their teams or seasons.
Separate identity types
A provincial union representative, school, youth side or development team is not automatically a club.
