How rugby is organised in Denmark

Rugby Danmark’s 2026 domestic programme includes a phase-based men’s XV championship, separate development activity, a two-event women’s XV Championship Series, women’s sevens, youth formats, and DM Sevens events. One reviewed club identity is projected; the 20-entry public finder is not treated as a complete affiliate census.

Governing authorityRugby DanmarkOperational providerHoldsport

Hierarchy

The country structure

Permanent leagues, seasonal phases and parallel competitions stay separate so a cup or playoff is not mistaken for a league tier.

Senior men

DM Herrer is one national XV championship family with regional preliminary activity, a national ranking, autumn ranking matches and two-leg placement pairings.

  • DM Herrer season path

The 2026 format combines Jylland/Fyn and Sjælland preliminary matches with seeded cross-region matches, then uses one national ranking for later qualification and final pairings. These are season phases, not permanent numbered divisions.

  • Development is separate

The autumn development league is an offer for lower-ranked, opting and approved additional teams; the checked material does not establish it as a conventional promotion or relegation level.

Senior women

Women’s competition is published as a nationwide sevens series and a separate two-event XV Championship Series. Neither is a tier of the other.

  • Sevens Serien Kvinder

The 2026 series has five events, seeded pools and cumulative placement points; the team with the lowest total wins. It is not presented as a women’s XV league ladder.

  • XV Championship

The 2026 women’s XV Championship Series has two national events and permits cooperation or lending teams and foreign entries. Those permissions do not establish actual entrants, permanent composites, a cross-border relation, or a tier below the sevens series.

Youth

Rugby Danmark publishes U8–U14 participation festivals, U16 national event standings and an U18 XV series between East and West representative teams.

  • U8–U14 festivals

These age groups use national and regional festivals where results and standings are subordinate to participation and development.

  • U16 and U18

U16 uses national DM events with cumulative placement points. U18 is a six-match XV championship between East and West representative teams, not a club competition.

Sevens

DM Sevens is a distinct championship event for men, women, U18 and U16 alongside the recurring women’s sevens series.

  • DM Sevens

The 2026 event permits cooperation teams and more than one side from a club. Those entries are competition-specific and must not be converted into a club directory or a permanent reserve hierarchy.

Team identity limits

Public competition labels can refer to a season team, numbered side, cooperation entry or representative side; they do not provide a durable national club-and-team identifier system.

  • Season and format boundaries

Keep senior XV, development, women’s XV, sevens, youth and representative entries separate. The checked public presentation does not establish cross-season IDs, club mappings, roster continuity or a historical-results archive.

One reviewed atlas club

Frostlete has reviewed CSR-Nanok Rugby and its senior men’s first team as one bounded atlas record in the current 2026 DM Herrer spring phase. The row register binds that one finder card to the existing graph identity, retains the other 19 cards unresolved, and does not treat the finder as a complete affiliate denominator or create additional club, team, alias, lifecycle, participant, or route records.
