Rugby Klub Maribor, also known as RFC Maribor, is a rugby union club in Maribor, Slovenia. It was founded in 2005 and revived in 2009, and has a senior men's team.
History
RFC Maribor was founded in 2005 by Denis Karba, but most of the team left in the same year to train with RUFC Graz. The club was revived in 2009, when a few law students in Maribor asked a fellow student who had just returned from Graz to show them the basics of rugby. The first training sessions were held in Maribor's city park and later in the Betavna forest.
The revived club played its first friendly match, against RUFC Graz, in June 2010. After a season of friendlies in 2010/11 it beat the RK Ljubljana B team and won a three-nations tournament in Klagenfurt.
In October 2013 RFC Maribor played RAK Olimpija behind the Ledna dvorana ice hall in Maribor in a match counting towards both the Slovenian championship and the Nationalliga. That month the Rugby Union of Slovenia called Maribor "the club from below Kalvarija" in a match report. The club finished third at the Slovenian national sevens championship in 2016, when its B team came fifth, and third again in 2017. In 2017 the club was on the Financial Administration of the Republic of Slovenia's list of organisations eligible for income-tax donations.
