Rugby klub Ljubljana (RK Ljubljana) is a rugby union club in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Founded in 1963, it calls itself the most successful rugby club in Slovenia and also the country's largest. The club is an association (društvo) with a senior men's team and youth teams from U10 to U18.
History
Rugby in Ljubljana began in 1962, when the city's first rugby match was played. On 20 October 1963 a group of students who had taken to the game formally founded Rugby klub Ljubljana, which soon came under the patronage of the athletics club Železničarski atletski klub Ljubljana (ŽAK).
In 1978 the club was renamed Rugby klub Ljubljana Koloy's, later simply RK Koloy's, after its main sponsor, Kolinska, which remained the sponsor for many years. The club counts as its greatest achievement the final of the Yugoslav Marshal Tito Cup on 31 May 1986, when it beat Nada Split 4–3.
By the club's account, RK Koloy's combined with RK Bežigrad for two seasons under the joint name RFC Green Dragons and competed with Austrian clubs in the Adria liga in 1992/93 and 1993/94. In 1995, on the initiative of older players from Koloy's, the club became independent again under the name RK Ljubljana, and later played for three years as RK DHL Ljubljana. By RFC Bežigrad's account, the Green Dragons instead ran from 1990 until RK Ljubljana was re-established in 1994.
On 8 June 2013 RK Ljubljana beat RAK Olimpija 81–7 in the last match of the Slovenian championship to win the 2012/13 title. The club won the national sevens championship in 2014 and again in 2017, when the tournament was played at the Oval and a Rugby klub Ljubljana U20 side also took part. By June 2026 the club had won the 2025/26 Slovenian championship, by its own count, after beating RAK Olimpija 78–12.

Club life
The club calls itself an association where members and other supporters of rugby feel at home. The club uses the line, attributed to Winston Churchill, that rugby was invented by hooligans and is played by gentlemen. The club posts in Slovenian and English.
