Rugby Football Club Bežigrad (RFC Bežigrad) is a rugby union club from Ljubljana, Slovenia. It was founded in 1974 and has also played as RFC Green Dragons and RFC Kolinska Bežigrad.
History
The club was founded in Ljubljana on 21 June 1974 under the name Ragbi klub Bežigrad.
By the club's account, RK Ljubljana broke up in 1990, and Bežigrad invited all interested players to join it, renaming itself RFC Green Dragons. In 1994 the older players left to re-establish RK Ljubljana, and the club was renamed Rugby Football Club Kolinska Bežigrad. The same year a new club, RFC Ribnica, was founded on Bežigrad's initiative. By RK Ljubljana's account, the Green Dragons were instead a two-season combination of the two clubs, in 1992/93 and 1993/94.
In 2005 RFC Bežigrad combined its senior team with that of RFC Emoona under the joint name RAK Olimpija. In 2007 it resumed an independent path, and its senior team played in the Austrian Powerade rugby league.
Teams and training
In 2016 the club had a veterans' team, a senior team, a women's team and youth groups at U18, U14 and U12–10.
