Sponsors support a club with money, kit or services. A good sponsor post thanks them in public and gives their business a reason to share it. It also shows other local businesses that the club looks after the people who help it.
Agree what the sponsor gets
Before the season starts, write down what the club promised each sponsor: how many posts, which logo, which links and whether they appear on match graphics. Ask the sponsor for their current logo, the name they want used and the account to tag. Keep all of this in the club’s shared folder.
Sponsor posts that work
- Welcome post: announce a new sponsor with their logo and one line about what they do.
- Match sponsor: name the sponsor of this week’s match on the matchday post.
- Kit sponsor: a team photo in the new kit, with the sponsor tagged.
- Player sponsor: a player and the business that sponsors them.
- Season thank-you: every sponsor on one graphic at the end of the season.
Make the post about people
A logo on its own is easy to scroll past. Show the sponsor with the club: the owner at a match, the team at their business or the kit they paid for. Say what their support made possible, such as new training equipment or a junior tour. Only say what is true, and ask the sponsor to check the wording.
Use the logo correctly
Use the logo file the sponsor sends, not a copy from a web search. Do not stretch it or change its colours. If the logo is hard to read on your club colours, use the version for dark or light backgrounds that the sponsor supplies.
Spread sponsor posts across the season
Plan sponsor posts in the same calendar as fixtures and results. One sponsor post a week is easier to keep up than many at once, and each sponsor gets their own moment. Read social media post ideas for sports clubs for a weekly plan.
Report back to the sponsor
At the end of the season, send each sponsor the posts that named them. Add any comments or shares that their business might want to see. This makes the next conversation about renewal easier.
