RC Slavia Praha is a rugby union club in Prague, Czech Republic; its legal name is Rugby Slavia, z. s. Founded in 1927 as the rugby section of SK Slavia Praha, it calls itself the oldest functioning rugby club in the Czech Republic. Its A team plays in the country's top league, and since 2002 its home has been the Eden ground in Vršovice.
History
The club was founded on 13 April 1927 as the rugby section of SK Slavia Praha. In its own words, it has since been one of the most successful and respected clubs in the country. It calls itself the first Czechoslovak champion, in 1929. As SK Slavia Praha, the club won the national championship in 1929, 1930 and from 1932 to 1935. The club also played as Dynamo Praha, and won the title under that name in 1956, 1957, 1958, 1959 and 1961, as Slavia Praha in 1964, and as RC Slavia Praha in 1969, 1971 and 2010.
After the Second World War Slavia resumed activity on a ground in Troja, Prague. In 2002 a flood drove the club out of Troja, and it moved to Eden in Vršovice. In 2010 the club celebrated at Eden what it counts as its 12th national title. The club also reached a quarter-final of the European champion clubs' cup.
The club returned to the Extraliga in March 2025; in its one season in the 1. liga the team had not lost a match or dropped a point. In February 2025 the club returned to its traditional red-and-white sešívané ("stitched") jerseys, which by the club's count have been part of its history for almost 100 years. That year it also ran a crowdfunding campaign, Rozsviť Eden ("Light up Eden"), for new floodlights at the stadium; it closed on 27 April 2025 having raised CZK 550,200 against a first target of CZK 450,000.
In 2025 the men finished third in the national championship, and they were third in the 2026 Extraliga table. They were runners-up at the 2025 national sevens championship in Brno, losing the final to RC Tatra Smíchov, and finished third at the 2026 championship, which they hosted. In 2026 the club's B team won the 3. liga and then beat Havířov in both legs of the 2. liga play-off, 61–5 and 70–57, to win promotion.
On 5 January 2026 work began on rebuilding the club's changing rooms and clubhouse, with the aim of finishing by 21 March; it included a 30 kW heat pump to heat them and supply hot water for the showers. From 20 to 26 April 2026 club staff took part in an Erasmus+ Sport exchange with Benetton Rugby in Treviso. The club will mark its centenary in 2027.

Teams and training
The club fields teams from the youngest age groups up to the A team, which plays in the top league; its U6 group is for children of preschool age. The youngest players start from the age of five, and complete adult beginners are also welcome, since rugby can be taken up at practically any time. For parents and older newcomers without experience it runs a parents' touch session every Wednesday, a non-contact form of rugby.
The club's teams run from U6, U8, U10 and U12 through U14, U16 and U19 to the B team and the A team. The club is also entered in the U19, U16 and U14 fifteens, the U12, U10 and U8 championships, the men's, U18 and U14 sevens championships, and girls' U15 rugby.
As of August 2026, the A team trains on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 19:30 to 21:00 at Eden. The younger age groups train on Tuesday and Thursday or Monday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons on the same ground. Confirm times with the club.
Club life
The club calls itself the oldest rugby club in the Czech Republic, founded in 1927. It sees its red-and-white colours as a symbol of devotion to the club and of its firm place in the SK Slavia family. Its Prague derby against Sparta has been nicknamed Bitva o kostel ("the Battle for the Church") since 2005; Slavia won the August 2025 edition.
