Rugby Club Avusy (RC Avusy) is a rugby club in Avusy, in the Geneva countryside of Switzerland. It plays at Athenaz. In 2025/26 its men's first team played in the LNA and its reserve team in Excellence A. The club also runs a rugby school for children aged 5 to 18.
History
The club was founded in 1989 by five friends who wanted to start a new club in the Geneva countryside. It played its first matches on the pitch of the Epeisses parade ground, then on a first pitch at Athenaz that the players partly built themselves. Its first honours came in 1989/90, with a win in the Swiss Cup for first-league clubs, the first-league championship and promotion to Ligue B.
The commune later built the Centre Communal d'Athenaz, inaugurated on 30 May 2002, with the ground the club uses today. In the club's words, visiting teams often cite it as "the finest rugby complex in the country". By the club's count, several hundred men and women wore its orange and black colours in its first 30 years, under many coaches and eight successive presidents.
By the club's count, it was Swiss champion of the Ligue Nationale A in 2002/03, 2010/11 and 2011/12. The first team played in the LNA in 2023/24, 2024/25 and 2025/26. In the 2024/25 play-off semi-finals it lost 9–39 to Yverdon on 10 May 2025. Avusy hosted the 2025 Swiss Cup finals at the Stade Athenaz and lost the Swiss Cup final 31–33 to RC Nyon on 14 June 2025. In the 2025/26 LNA semi-finals, played at Athenaz on 9 May 2026, Avusy lost 22–37 to Stade Lausanne.
