Sport-Club Germania List von 1900 e. V. (SC Germania List, SCG) is a multi-sport club in Hannover, Lower Saxony, Germany. Its sports include fitness and health, handball, rugby union, tennis and darts, and it also has allotment gardens. As of August 2026, the rugby department has about 300 active players, around half of them children and young people. In 2025/26 the club's first men's team played in the 1. Bundesliga.
History
The "Fußball-Verein Germania List" was founded with 24 members on 26 May 1900, at the Deutsches Bierhaus in Voßstraße. The club calls Germania one of the oldest rugby clubs in Germany; in its early years rugby and football were not yet clearly separated. In 1919 the club was founded anew as "Sportclub Germania List von 1919", with 56 members, and in 1932 it took back the name "Sportclub Germania List von 1900 e.V. Hannover".
The rugby men reached the final of the German championship in 1942, losing to SG Ordnungspolizei Berlin, and reached it again in 1949, finishing as runners-up to SC Neuenheim. In 1968 they beat Odin 11–9 at the Lindener Stadion to win the German rugby cup. In 1977 they won both the German championship and the German cup, and they were German champions again in 1979 and 1981. In 2000 the men won the DRV-Pokal.
The club's men's sevens team were runners-up at the German sevens championship in 2018 and 2019, and the club stages its own tournament, the Germania Sevens, which was held for the third time in 2020. The men won the German sevens title in 2024, a long-awaited success, beating RG Heidelberg in the final, and won it again at the 2025 Finals in Dresden, where the club's women finished as runners-up. The women had taken third place at the German sevens championship in 2024.
In the 2025/26 1. Bundesliga the first team beat RG Heidelberg 20–14 at home on 6 September 2025, and finished eighth in the table with six wins and 12 defeats from 18 matches, 375 points scored, 731 conceded and 36 table points. Its 2026/27 fixtures included a home match against TSV Handschuhsheim on 5 September 2026.
