North Brisbane Rugby Club Inc, known as Norths or the Norths Eagles, is a rugby union club in Wavell Heights, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Its first grade plays in the Hospital Cup, the top level of Brisbane club rugby. The club plays in blue and white, and its home ground is Hugh Courtney Oval.
History
The club has several predecessor clubs. In what it calls its first golden era, North Brisbane (Norths) won the Brisbane Hospital Football Challenge Cup four years in a row, from 1904 to 1907, and raised 150 pounds for the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital.
Rugby in the North Brisbane area first took shape with the Eagle Junction Rugby Football Club, founded in 1928 or 1931, which was promoted to first grade for the 1935 season. By the club's count, the Norths Eagles were founded in 1928.
In 1974 Teachers amalgamated with Northern Districts, founded in 1966, to form Teachers-Norths Rugby Club, which won the Premier Grade premiership in 1976. The club moved to its present facilities at Shaw Road, Wavell Heights, in 1984. A further merger with Redcliffe Rugby Club in 1991 produced North Brisbane Rugby Club. After a brief change of name to Brisbane Barbarians Rugby Club in the late 1990s, the club reverted to North Brisbane Rugby Club in 1999. An alliance with the Queensland University of Technology, Norths-QUT, ran from 2001 until 2008, after which the club again stood alone as North Brisbane Rugby Club.
In 2026 the first grade played in the Hospital Cup and reached the semi-finals, meeting Brothers in the major semi-final at Yoku Road, Ashgrove. By the club's count, it was its first appearance in the Hospital Cup semi-finals in 34 years.
