Mountain Eagles Rugby Club (Hebrew: מאונטן איגלס) is a rugby club in northern Israel. It was founded in Maghar in 1996, and it has youth and children's teams and a senior team. In the club's words, it brings together Majdal Shams, Beit Jann and Maghar, "united by an oval ball". Its men played in the Israeli fifteens league in 2025/26.
History
The club was founded in 1996 in Maghar by its coach and founder, Yosef Tarbush.
As founder and coach of the Ashbal (אשבאל) rugby club in Maghar, a Druze city, Yosef Tarbush "imported" rugby to the village at a time when nobody understood how a ball could be anything but round. In January 2025 Ashbal was a year away from 30 years of activity, and rugby in Maghar was going through a renaissance: from almost no players during the COVID-19 period, it had grown to nearly 40 children playing tag rugby and an under-14 youth team, and a senior team was planned to join the league the following season. Tag rugby in schools had produced three teams from two schools and a first school tournament.
In the 2025/26 men's fifteens league Mountain Eagles were fourth in the regular-season table with 18 points, and also fourth in the upper play-off table. In the play-offs they lost 7–70 to Maccabi Tel Aviv on 24 January 2026. In May and June 2026 Maccabi Haifa and Mountain Eagles had three Regional League matches scheduled.
